NTEA Meeting’s ‘First Dedicated Propane Autogas Test Drive Event’

The Propane Education & Research Council will stage a ride-and-drive for propane autogas vehicles at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis in early March. It will run concurrently with the Green Truck Ride-and-Drive at the NTEA show.

“Fleet managers can find more state-of-the-art propane vehicles today than at any point in the history of the fuel,” PERC propane autogas director Mike Taylor said in a release. Propane autogas sales reached an all-time high in 2013, PERC says, as OEMs produced record numbers of dedicated propane vehicles.

“Drive cycles can vary greatly from industry to industry and we are fortunate to have PERC representatives on-hand to help determine if propane is a good fit,” NTEA fleet relations director Bob Johnson says in the PERC announcement.

“The size of your fleet, budget, and access to infrastructure are all factors to consider when choosing which alternative fuel works best for you.

The Propane Autogas Ride & Drive is to include class 1-6 trucks and vans from Ford (via Roush CleanTech as a Ford QVM/Qualified Vehicle Modifier), General Motors, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp in partnership with CleanFuel USA, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, and Icom North America.

Green Truck Summit by NTEA

The propane ride-and-drive begins at noon on Tuesday, March 4, and continues through Thursday, March 6 outside the Maryland Motor Lobby at the Indiana Convention Center.

The 2014 Work Truck Show 2013 and the 50th Annual NTEA Convention take place March 5-7, preceded March 4-5 by the Green Truck Summit, organized this year by NTEA itself.

NTEA is the Association for the Work Truck Industry, aka the National Truck Equipment Association.
